Stone Hill by metaphoricalsimilie Stone Hill by metaphoricalsimilie
:icondragonstretchplz: Finally finished~

I love Spyro the Dragon so much, and so does my (non-dA) friend Zia! So for her birthday I drew her a picture of Spyro from the very first game, although more in my style!
Here he is tromping through Stone Hill, one of our favorite levels, in the Artisans home world.

I had a bunch of neato things to do and learn with this one, like with the water, gems, and grass. Speaking of grass, I thank :iconchildofmoonlight: very, very much for her grass brush for Paint Tool Sai: [link] I played around with it in this to see how it would look. If it looks reeeally bad, I'm sorry, but it was my first time playing with it.

I played more with SAI's pre-installed textures too.

Overall, I'm quite pleased, though there are plenty of things that could be better. The thing that bugs me the most is the shadow under Spyro, but oh well! I'm not going back to fix it, so it'll have to do.

I intend to work on a suitable watermark sometime soon! >w<

Hope you like!

That's right; that's the first world in the game you see them, isn't it?

Yes D: It took me forever to get the concept "After you flame the dog the first time, RUN AWAY".

sometimes, if you do it fast enough, it IS possible to flame them twice (once when they're on the ground then when they are in air)
...but then you run the risk of getting squished...

I'mma have to try that one of these days. >w< See if I can succeed in not getting squished.

Thank you so much for the watch, btw! :icondragonhug:

I used to spend hours in this world just romping around, chasing sheep and listening to the music. :D

>w< I think it's one of the prettiest in the entire game. I always wanted to run out past the boundaries into those lovely green hills. *u*

:iconcryforeverplz: Thank you, you're so nice!
It was fun, I actually just painted the ocean a solid flat color and then used a tool that created straight-ish lines with big gaps in between and kinda crisscrossed with different colors, blurring here and there a bit. I'm lucky it came out as nice as it did!
